However, if you plan on having your dog a year from now, the price difference really becomes clear. Most of our competitors want to lock you into a monthly service plan, with early termination penalties - similar to the cell phone companies. They will send you a text message on your cell phone or require you to go to their web site to get the location of your dog. The problem is, by the time they send you a text message, you receive it, and get to your cell phone and read it, this information is out-of-date at best. By the time you receive notification, your dog has most likely moved. The reliance of these systems on cell phone reception makes them much less dependable in the real world than the RoamEO which uses satelite technology.
